Shahnaz Huseynova (also known by her pen name Shahnaz Beylergizi) is a seasoned journalist with 25 years of experience, specializing in human rights, politics, and investigative reporting on corruption. She has held prominent roles at Toplum TV, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, and various Azerbaijani newspapers, working as a reporter, editor, presenter, and trainer. She has received multiple awards for her investigative work and live reporting.

Huseynova was detained in Baku on February 5, 2025. Her apartment was searched, and her electronic devices were seized. She was taken to the Baku City Police Headquarters under charges of " smuggling foreign currency" in a case related to Toplum TV. Under police custody, she experienced a health emergency and needed urgent medical help. Huseynova is diabetic and suffers from high blood pressure.

On February 6, 2025, the Khatai District Court remanded Huseynova to three months and fifteen days of pre-trial detention.

On February 26, 2025, she was released under house arrest.
